Storm Recovery: Power Restoration in Progress
On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, a major storm swept through our area, leaving behind widespread damage across our service territory. Since then, our crews at Dyersburg Electric have been working around the clock to restore power safely and efficiently.
We follow a 5-step power restoration process, and as of today, we are actively working through Steps 4 and 5.
Here’s how the process works:
Step 1: Damage Assessment
Immediately after the storm, we dispatched crews to assess damage, identify hazards, and create a strategic restoration plan.
Step 2: Substation Repair
We began by repairing substations—these are vital because they serve the largest number of customers.
Step 3: Restore Primary Distribution Lines
We then moved on to restoring the large lines that deliver power from substations to major parts of the community.
Step 4: Repair Secondary Distribution Lines (CURRENT STEP)
We are now working to restore power to neighborhoods and smaller clusters of homes and businesses. These repairs are prioritized to bring service back to the largest number of people possible.
Step 5: Restore Individual Service to Homes (CURRENT STEP)
Finally, we’re addressing individual service lines that run directly to homes and businesses. These repairs take time and are often the last to be completed, but we won’t stop until every customer has power restored.
We understand how difficult this has been, and we appreciate your continued patience and support as we finish the job—safely and as quickly as possible.
A sincere thank-you to the crews from Covington and Union City for assisting with restoration efforts here in Dyersburg today. Your support is deeply appreciated. ... See MoreSee Less
