ORGANIZATION

Dyersburg Electric System is owned by the City of Dyersburg. DES has 395 miles of line in the City of Dyersburg and the County of Dyer. DES is governed by a Power Board of citizens appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. DES is organized under the 1935 Electric Plant act. The Board meets monthly, sets policy, reviews the operation of the System, evaluates the work of the General Manager, and approves the budget.

The Tennessee Valley Authority has been designed our Regulatory Agency for DES by the U.S. Congress. Other state and federal agencies such as TOSHA and EPA have regulations that impact our business.
